An Easter Blessing

Where there is only darkness, light comes. Where death seems more powerful than anything, life comes. Where loneliness rules waking and sleeping, love comes. The deep, deep Peace that is God’s to give comes with Easter morning.

If your loss to death is recent it may not seem so this Easter, but each year as Easter comes the truth of this blessing will become more apparent. As one who lived at death’s door for some time I tell you that the blessing of peace is powerful and empowering. So it is that I offer this blessing to you this Easter:

The Lord who conquered darkness with light,
give peace to you.

The Lord who conquered death with life,
give peace to you.

The Lord who conquered loneliness with love,
give peace to you.

You who grieve this Easter will be in my heart at Holy Communion at St. Margaret’s. You, especially, will be in my prayers throughout Easter. Peace be with you.
